The National Democratic Institute for International Affairs (NDI) is seeking a Resident Director with strong management skills and legislative development experience to oversee the implementation of its multi sectoral democracy support programs in Nigeria. NDI’s Nigeria programs focus primarily on providing technical assistance to the National Assembly in the areas of legislative processes, institutional development and constituency outreach.
The Resident Director will be based in Abuja and will oversee the implementation of program activities and lead a diverse team of talented and experienced national and expatriate staff. The Director will be responsible for overall office management on financial and human resources matters, and will be NDI’s principal liaison with program partners, including legislators and representatives of the Nigerian government, nongovernmental organizations and the donor community. The candidate will work with Washington-based program staff that manage day-to-day communications and provide support for field activities. Required Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree, preferably in international development, political science or management graduate degree preferred;Solid legislative development background with a minimum of twelve (12) years experience in senior-level program management, including office operations and the management of fiscal and human resources;Proven ability to manage multi-million dollar budgets, and to effectively lead and manage a multi-national staff of more than 20 people;
